Tour Links Putting Green Review: The Putting Green for Home

Tour Links Putting Green Review: de putting green voor thuis

Honing your putting skills at home is a proven way to improve your golf game. It’s something that any player can do, even if you have limited space. Recently, Golf Backyard had the opportunity to test out one of Tour Links’ premium home putting systems. Many golfers dream of having their own putting green in their home or backyard, and Tour Links’ products make this possible without the need for professional installation.

Over the past few months, we have been testing the Dog Bone (86 x 298 cm) putting green, and we dare say that it is the best putting solution we have experienced so far. Although it is more expensive than many other indoor putting mats, we try to explain what the main differences are and for whom this putting green might be the perfect choice.

What makes Tour Links unique?

Tour Links has been in business since 2001 and has built a reputation as one of the best suppliers of professional putting greens. They offer modular greens with a patented interlocking system that allows you to quickly install a green. These greens rival the quality of custom built greens. Their goal is to create a home experience that closely matches the real golf course, making practice more realistic.

For many golfers, a putting mat or even a putting turf carpet is a perfect solution. But for golfers who want to get as close as possible to the real course, the Tour Links green is the solution.

Tour Links offers various ready-made greens, ranging in size from roughly 1 x 3 meters to 4 x 6 meters. In addition, they also build custom solutions for consumers and professionals. In short, if you are looking for the best solution available, you will soon end up at Tour Links.

Setting up a Tour Links Putting Green

As mentioned, we tested with the Dog Bone model. Setting it up is quite easy using the installation instructions on the Tour Links website. It is a simple click system of panels over which you finally rill the putting mat.

Compared to other DIY systems we've seen, this is much simpler if you want a professional indoor putting green.

Performance

Let’s get straight to the point: these greens are fantastic. The roll of the ball is perfect and what you would expect on a high-end golf course. If you want real feedback on your putting, this is definitely one of the best options. We have tried several other premium products and in our opinion Tour Links is the absolute best.

In addition to the performance of the artificial grass, there is also something to be said for actually using a cup on the putting green. You actually see the ball fall and that has a mental advantage and adds to the overall experience.

Quick tip: We used a vacuum cleaner to get the green’s stroke direction in one direction, creating different putting speeds. Expect speeds between 10-12 on the Stimpmeter; the artificial grass is the faster kind.

Are there any disadvantages? Yes, some Tour Links putting greens may not allow you to putt the full length of the green due to the contours and flag positions. That is something to consider when purchasing a putting green.

Who should buy a Tour Links Green?

For the golfer looking for a premium solution, we believe that Tour Links will be one of the best options. Putting is still a challenge for many golfers and a neglected child when practicing. With this home green, you will definitely practice more often and with a visible result.

In short, if you have the money to invest and want the best, we think a Tour Links putting green is a good choice for you. Almost every golfer dreams of having a professional putting green at home, and Tour Links can make that dream come true.
